The 94th Academy Awards will be announced next week in Los Angeles. Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross unveiled the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards on February 8. The ceremony, which used to usually be held in February-end or March-beginning, was delayed due to the pandemic. The Oscars 2022 will be held on March 28 (according to IST) in Los Angeles. This year's Oscars will be hosted by comedians Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer and actress Regina Hall.
Among the 276 films which were shortlisted for 94th Academy Awards, Suriya’s Jai Bhim and Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, were chosen from India. However, the films didn't make it to the nominations list. Meanwhile, The Power of the Dog, Belfast and The West Side Story won multiple nominations.
The Oscars 2022 will air live on Sunday (March 27) starting at 8 pm ET. According to the Indian Standard Time, the ceremony will begin at 5.30 am IST on Monday (March 28). Oscars 2022 will be broadcast on Star Movies, Star Movies HD and Star World from 6.30am. The social media pages of The Academy will be doing the live updates too.

Jackson, Lily James, Daniel Kaluuya, Zoë Kravitz, Mila Kunis, Lady Gaga, John Leguizamo, Simu Liu, Rami Malek, Shawn Mendes, Lupita Nyong’o, Rosie Perez, Tyler Perry, Chris Rock, Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Scott, Wesley Snipes, Uma Thurman, John Travolta and Yuh-jung Youn.
Indian documentary film Writing with Fire by Rintu Thomas has been shortlisted for Oscars 2022. Helmed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, Writing with Fire is about a newspaper run by Dalit women. It has been selected in the Best Documentary Feature category. Other than Writing with Fire, the list also includes names like The World’s a Little Blurry by RJ Cutler, Julia by Julie Cohen and others.
