Ford is scheduled to speak alongside Health Minister Christine Elliott and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore at 11:30 a.m.
At the news conference, Ford will announce a gradual easing of restrictions that include the reopening of indoor dining at 50 per cent capacity on Jan. 31, sources told CTV News. The government is planning to gradually lift other public health restrictions later next month, the sources said.
Ford is pushing for a full economic reopening by March, according to the sources.
On Wednesday, the premier said “restaurants, gyms and other folks” should expect a positive announcement later this week.
Elliott said on Wednesday the province is seeing “glimmers of hope” in the fight against the Omicron variant.
