OnePlus confirms no 9T this year, but more affordable OnePlus 9RT may launch in India
India Today
OnePlus has officially confirmed that there won't be a OnePlus 9T or OnePlus 9T Pro this year. And, that makes sense for the company as it revamps market strategy post Oppo merger. But, there can always be the 9RT for regional markets, including India.
OnePlus is in a transition phase post Oppo integration, and we are likely to see some changes in the company's market strategy. The announcement of no 9T is among the first noticeable changes. In a select briefing recently, CEO Pete Lau talked about his new role post OnePlus-Oppo integration, where he also confirmed that there wouldn't be a T-series upgrade this year. However, before responding to a query related to the 9T, Lau briefly touched upon what the OnePlus smartphone portfolio will look like going forward.
In the entire discussion with journalists, Lau hinted that the new approach of OnePlus will be to focus on regional devices like the OnePlus R series, Nord series, Nord CE series, and Nord N series. This was, of course, apart from the global flagship smartphones every year. While Lau didn't elaborate on what's next, but he left a window open for the regional 9RT that's widely anticipated for select markets, including India.
