One militant killed in encounter with security forces in J&K's Pulwama

A search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire at the security forces in Jammu & Kashmir's Pulwama.

One militant has been killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.

The operation is still underway.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Mitrigam area of Pulwama following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire at the security forces.
