One man’s terrorist, another’s freedom fighter: Punjab Congress leader on Bhagat Singh row

A day after SAD MP Simranjit Singh Mann walked into controversy by calling Bhagat Singht a terrorist, Punjab youth Congress chief Barinder Singh Dhillon has said one man’s terrorist can be another man’s freedom fighter.
A day after SAD MP Simranjit Singh Mann walked into controversy by calling Bhagat Singh a terrorist, Punjab youth Congress chief Barinder Singh Dhillon has said one man’s terrorist can be another man’s freedom fighter.
“One man’s terrorist can be another man’s freedom fighter. This term has been used and misused often. Calling Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh a terrorist is not new to our history as is evident from textbooks and literature across the world,” Dhillon said.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP from Punjab’s Sangrur, Simranjit Singh Mann, was not new to this and had been blowing his trumpet for the past many years on various issues, he said.
“At least we can say he is consistent and clear in his thoughts. Whether we oppose him or disagree with him is a different matter,” the youth Congress leader said.
“What baffles me is the silence of his newfound support base and his new set of campaigners and followers, who were very active and feel that they have ushered in a new revolution in the Sangrur bypolls,” he said.
He asked, “Why are they silent, and what makes them go into hiding on the issue of Bhagat Singh?”
