One killed, five injured in accident near Palladam

A 16-year-old boy was crushed to death after the car he travelled along with five others rammed a stationary truck at Ammapalayam, near Palladam, in Tiruppur district on Sunday.
The police said six boys, Tamilvanan (16), Harikrishnan (17), Dinesh (17), Shree (15), Gopi Shankar (17) and Lenin Raj (17) belong to Pachapalayam near Palladam were travelling in the car.
Tamilvanan was killed in the accident which took place on Palladam – Mangalam Road in the afternoon.
According to the police, the car belonged to a relative of Tamilvanan. The accident took place when the boys were heading to Mangalam.
As the car reached Ammapalayam junction, the driver lost control of the vehicle that rammed a truck that was parked on the right side of the road.
The front portion of the car was completely mangled in the impact of the collision. People who were nearby pulled out the boys from the car and rushed them to the Government Hospital, Palladam.
A senior police officer said that the boys had come out with the car with the knowledge of elders. The Palladam police have registered a case.
