It has been nearly three weeks since Darryl Chan tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival at the Hong Kong airport. Despite showing no symptoms, he still remains isolated in a hospital ward. He does not know when he will be allowed to leave.
Apart from mainland China, Hong Kong is one of the few places in the world that is pursuing a strict ‘zero-Covid policy’. This means that most non-residents are not allowed to enter and those who do arrive from abroad have to undergo three weeks of quarantine, whether or not they are fully vaccinated.
