Three members of the legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, and three other people, were killed in a plane crash on this day in history, Oct. 20, 1977.
The crash of the small Convair CV-240 passenger plane also claimed the lives of assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray. Kerry J. Byrne is a lifestyle reporter with Fox News Digital.
