India opener KL Rahul has had a successful surgery in Germany and is in path of progress after suffering a groin injury that ruled him out from India's T20I series against South Africa and then subsequently against England. Rahul took to his social media to announce the news and said that his road to recovery had begun.
"Hello everyone. It's been a tough couple of weeks but the surgery was successful. I'm healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon," he wrote on Twitter.

KL Rahul's injury meant that India were one opener short in their Test match against England, but they had enough cover in Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. However, the Indian captain's Covid-19 infection put India in a tricky situation and they were forced to fly out Mayank Agarwal as a back up for the Test match.
KL Rahul is crucial to India's plans in the upcoming months, with the batter forming the backbone of the Indian team in all formats of the game. Rahul, partnering with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order has brought back stability in the Indian line-up, soaking up the new ball before counterattacking the opposition side.
With two World Cups lined up in back to back years, India will hope that Rahul gets back to full fitness and gets some game time ahead of the tournaments.
