The omicron variant of the coronavirus is "spreading rapidly" - with 101 confirmed cases in India now - the Health Ministry said Friday evening, warning that the new and significantly more infectious strain already accounted for 2.4 per cent of all COVID-19 cases in the world.
Within India 19 districts are at "high risk" of a surge in Covid cases, irrespective of the variant driving that surge, the Health Ministry said today during its scheduled briefing.
