Omicron more likely to evade immunity than other Covid variants: Study
India Today
According to the latest study by South African scientists, the Omicron variant of coronavirus can evade vaccine-induced immunity.
On its face, the new coronavirus variant Omicron may look less severe as infected people have reported mild symptoms. But the variant’s ability to evade immunity and lead to more infections has concerned scientists.
The latest study led by South African scientists “investigated whether Omicron escapes antibody neutralisation elicited by the Pfizer-BNT vaccine and whether the virus still requires binding to the ACE2 receptor to infect cells.”
