Olympic wake-up call: Dubois skates to bronze, de Bruin in position to make Games history

Steven Dubois is shining in his first Olympics.
The 24-year-old short track speed skater won his second medal of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, earning a bronze medal in the 500-metres final on Sunday.
Dubois won a silver medal in the 1,500m last week, and will have one more chance at a medal in the men's relay on Wednesday.

The Canadian team of Kim Boutin, Florence Brunelle, Courtney Sarault and Alyson Charles made a late push in the final laps of the women's 3,000m short track relay final but couldn't hold on to a podium spot.
Canada finished fourth, while the Netherlands took the gold medal in Olympic-record time.

Christine de Bruin is sitting in second place after two heats of the inaugural Olympic monobob event.
The 32-year-old from Stony Plain, Alta., is 1.04 seconds behind American Kaillie Humphries, who posted a track record time of one minute, 5.12 seconds in her first heat run.
Toronto's Cynthia Appiah finished the day tied for 10th place.

Canada's women's curling team is facing an uphill battle to make it out of the Olympic round robin.
Jennifer Jones' rink fell 8-4 to Switzerland on Sunday. Canada's skip curled 65 per cent in the match, giving up back-to-back steals to the Swiss in the eighth and ninth ends.
