Ola electric scooter catches fire in Pune, company says probe underway

Ola Electric said it is investigating the incident in Pune wherein its S1 scooter caught fire.
Cab aggregator Ola issued a statement after an electronic vehicle that it owns caught fire in Dhanori area of Pune in Maharashtra around 1 pm on Saturday. Ola said an investigation has been initiated. It assured that vehicle safety is of paramount importance and appropriate action will be taken.
Ola's official statement reads: "We are aware of an incident in Pune that happened with one of our scooters and are investigating to understand the root cause and will share more updates in the next few days. We're in constant touch with the customer who is absolutely safe. Vehicle safety is of paramount importance at Ola and we are committed to the highest quality standards in our products. We take this incident seriously and will take appropriate action and share more in the coming days."

A video posted on social media gained traction as it showed the S1 scooter billowing thick smoke.

Several people started recording when the scooter parked on a road in Pune started emitting smoke and then, with a small blast, it caught fire.
