Off-duty NYPD cop killed in Long Island Expressway crash

An off-duty NYPD cop was killed in a single-car crash on Long Island late Monday night, according to police.

The 30-year-old officer was driving eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when he appeared to lose control of his car just before 11 p.m. Monday, Suffolk County police said Tuesday. The cop, whose name hasn’t been released, died at the scene near Exit 53 in Brentwood.
