The Supreme Court will be swamped with PILs tomorrow. CJI UU Lalit’s bench will hear 206 pleas.
In yet another action-packed day in CJI UU Lalit’s 74-day tenure, the Supreme Court of India is set to hear 230 PILs on Monday, (September 12).
With the Chief Justice of India (CJI) UU Lalit stepping into the third week of his tenure, a bench headed by him would consider 206 PILs, including 185 PILs listed in the batch challenging the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019.
The batch of pleas challenging the CAA aside, the CJI-led bench will also consider cases pertaining to senior designation, implementation of the Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention & Prohibition) Act 2013 among others.
15 other benches will be considering over 60 cases each.

It has been two weeks since the newly-inducted Chief Justice of India, UU Lalit, took charge as the 49th CJI.
Keeping in line with his assurances of revamping the work of the Supreme Court on the judicial side, the top court has witnessed important developments and changes in the preceding weeks.
