The Odisha Vigilance sleuths have seized Rs 1.36 crore in cash after four days of raids on the residential premises of a senior government official.

According to an official release, this is the highest-ever cash seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance.
The raids were carried out in connection with a disproportionate assets case involving a senior government official.
Initially, Dash was detained by the Vigilance officials while he was handing over Rs 10.23 lakh to a branch manager of DCB Bank in Malkangiri.
As the search progressed, the vigilance sleuths uncovered Rs 1.36 crore in cash.
Furthermore, 1.2 kg of gold and Rs 4 crore in bank FDs/savings/insurance deposits were unearthed, following simultaneous searches at his residential quarters in Malkangiri.
“During the search, details of 12 bank accounts in Axis Bank (in the name of family, relatives and associates) operated by Dash were also found, in which Rs 2.25 crore deposits were made by him,” Vigilance Director Y K Jethwa said.He had also purchased an apartment worth Rs 32.30 lakh in Shantivaan Society, Barang, Cuttack, in the name of his wife. A plot of land at Baripal in Keonjhar district was also registered in his wife’s name. Meanwhile, further verification of other bank accounts and two lockers is underway.
