The man, Tapas Chandra Swain, works as a senior assistant at the Regional Education Directorate (Sambalpur).
Sambalpur SP Battula Gangadhar felicitated Swain and handed over a cash reward of Rs 1,000 as a token of appreciation.

Notably, after finding the unattended bag lying on the road, Swain found gold ornaments inside it. He first waited at the spot for the owner of the bag to return. After finding no claimant, Swain headed straight to the nearest police station and handed it over to the police.
Meanwhile, the owner of the bag reached the police station to register a missing complaint.
After thorough verification, the bag was handed over to the owner.
