Odisha government has decided to promote students of classes 1 to 8 without exams. The decision applies to all the government, government-aided and un-aided private schools. The decision to promote students directly for the 2020-21 academic session was taken by the Odisha School and Mass Education Department in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing school closures. The Puducherry government also took a similar decision and the Tamil Nadu government decided to do away with the board exams for students of classes 9 to 11.
