The National Security Agency's inspector general on Tuesday announced that it is reviewing "recent allegations that the NSA improperly targeted the communications of a member of the US news media."
Although the statement does not mention any specific media figure, the review comes amid ongoing public claims by Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the NSA "spied" on him by intercepting his communications. The NSA inspector general will examine the agency's "compliance with applicable legal authorities and Agency policies and procedures regarding collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination activities, including unmasking procedures, and whether any such actions were based upon improper considerations," according to the release.More Related News
