'Nothing less than a crime': Karnataka minister hits out at Metro officials for ignoring Kannada

Karnataka's Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar said action would be initiated against those responsible for ignoring Kannada during the inauguration of the Metro's purple line.
Karnataka's Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar on Wednesday sought an explanation from the Managing Director of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) for not using Kannada in the backdrops during the launch of the Mysore Road-Kengeri line last week.The Purple Metro Line service between Mysore road and Kengeri was inaugurated at Nayandahali Metro Station on Sunday. The event was attended by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.In the letter, the minister wrote, "This is a serious lapse. The event happened in the state capital. Not using the state’s official language is unacceptable."
