India Today
Mamata Banerjee has denied that there was any violence in Bengal after the assembly polls last year. She accused the BJP of spreading lies.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday, July 4, denied reports of post-poll violence in her state. She said it was just “BJP drama”. She was speaking at the fifth edition of the India Today Conclave East that began in Kolkata on Monday, July 4.
“Nothing happened. Twenty-one people died before the elections when there was President’s Rule in Bengal under the Election Commission. Four people were shot dead by the BSF. Sixteen of the deceased were from Trinamool Congress,” she said.

“If there is any report of post-poll violence in Bengal, you [BJP-led Centre] send all human rights commissions and other panels. But when there is violence in Tripura before and after elections, when you killed people, then you never raised questions,” Mamata Banerjee said.
“How many people went to Hathras, Uttar Pradesh? How many went to Tripura? Even their CBI said none of the 21 cases was related to post-poll violence,” she said.
