Not our party’s decision, says NCP chief Sharad Pawar on AIMIM’s offer of tie-up

After Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has also ruled out joining hands with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in MVA-ruled Maharashtra, asserting he was not in favour of such an alliance.
On Saturday, AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel set off a hubbub in Maharashtra’s political circles after he stated that his party could form an alliance with the Shiv Sena-led ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition to prevent the BJP from coming to power.
“I have been reading about this statement but I wish to make it clear that this is not our party’s decision,” Pawar told India Today.
The veteran politician elaborated that many considerations go into forming an alliance with any political outfit. Such decisions are taken by state parties only after a go ahead from the national committee of the political parties, he said.
Moreover, since the NCP is part of a ruling coalition along with the Shiv Sena and the Congress, it must take into account its existing partners’ views on expanding the alliance.

“AIMIM can make such statements but it's important to consider whether other parties [in the MVA] are ready for such alliance. If anyone can given such a proposal for state level alliance, then NCP as a political alliance partner doesn't allow any of the three political parties to take such decision,” said Pawar.
