‘Not needed’: Mahan Dal chief calls off alliance with Samajwadi Party in UP
India Today
The Mahan Dal chief called off his alliance with the Samajwadi Party on Wednesday, alleging that he was not needed anymore.
Mahan Dal President Keshav Dev Maurya ended his alliance with the Samajwadi Party, alleging that the SP President Akhilesh Yadav had neglected him.
Talking to India Today, Maurya said that Akhilesh Yadav does not need grassroots workers. He said that for those who are creating pressure, Akhilesh is taking them to the Rajya Sabha or the Legislative Council. “Only I have been neglected. Akhilesh Yadav doesn't even talk to me,” he said.
“He does not need me, so I am breaking this alliance,” Maurya alleged.
Mahan Dal President Keshav Dev Maurya also said that they were given only two seats in the assembly elections, that too on the SP symbol.
“I had told Akhilesh Yadav that I wanted to contest from Etah or Farrukhabad in the Lok Sabha seat, but wasn't allowed and another leader from my community was given the ticket, ignoring me,” Maurya alleged.
The election process for 13 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council is underway and the nominations will be accepted till Thursday.
June 13 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Voting, if needed, will be held on June 20 and the results will be declared the same day.
