Taking a jibe at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s recent anecdote of a student mistaking him for Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Tuesday said that there is not much difference between the two leaders.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday took a dig at the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over an anecdote shared by the latter in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Speaking in the House on the issue of education, Akhilesh recalled an incident of a student mistaking him for Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Reacting to his predecessor’s remark, Adityanath pointed out that there was actually no difference between the two leaders, as one criticises India abroad while the other criticises UP outside the state.
During the discussion on the budget in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Adityanath said children are innocent and the student, whom Yadav had referred to, must have said this after some thinking.
“There is not much difference between them [Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav]. While one criticises the country abroad, the other one flays UP outside the state,” the chief minister said in the presence of Akhilesh Yadav.
Deploring the quality of education in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav had on Monday recounted the day he was confused with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by a child during his visit to a school.
The incident dates back to the time when Yadav himself was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, PTI reported.
"I had once gone to a primary school where a child did not recognise me. When I asked who I was, the child said Rahul Gandhi," Yadav had said while addressing the state Assembly.
