The South China Morning Post took to Twitter to share a video that showed health workers testing seafood such as fish and crabs for the Covid-19 virus amid a rise in cases in China.
Covid-19 brought the world to a standstill when it hit in November 2020. The pandemic spread devastation all across the world. While it is still present, the rampant spread has been controlled with vaccines and proper care. However, amid the recent rise in cases again, the scare is looming again. There has been an increase in cases in China's Xiamen as well. More than five million people have been directed to undergo tests, according to the BBC. However, testing is not limited to human beings only. Authorities have resorted to testing seafood for the virus as well. Yes, you read that right.
A video shared by the South China Morning Post on Twitter showed health workers testing seafood such as fish and crabs for the Covid-19 virus. The health workers wore PPE kits and proceeded to insert swabs inside the mouths of fishes and shells of crabs, as seen in the viral clip.
The video has gone viral all across the Chinese media as well and has triggered a discussion.
