‘Non-supportive attitude’: In POCSO case, Mumbai court orders action against complainant, her mother
India Today
A Mumbai special court ordered the legal action against a woman and her daughter for being “non-supportive attitude” in a Pocso case. They told the court that they did not have any grievance against the man they had accused of rape.
A special court in Mumbai has directed the prosecution to take legal steps against complainant and her mother in an alleged rape case after they said they did not wish to proceed against the accused. The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Special judge HC Shende of the Dindoshi Sessions Court noted that due to the "non-supportive attitude" of the victim and her mother, the case collapsed, its backbone cracked, and nothing came on record to prove the guilt of the accused. The court said the complainant and her mother were "star witnesses of the prosecution" in the Pocso case.More Related News
