Noida: Gang member involved in beef sale held after brief encounter

Police arrested a member of a gang allegedly involved in the sale of beef after a brief encounter in Noida. The accused was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and pistols and other weapons were also recovered from his possession.
A member of a gang who allegedly transported beef from Hapur to Delhi's Ghazipur market was held after a brief encounter with the police in Noida. The accused, identified as Shekhar, was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and was held in Sector 62 in Noida district, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a special operation in Sector 62 and started checking the vehicles. Police spotted the accused on a motorcycle and upon seeing the cops, he started firing and tried to flee the spot. The police team retaliated the fire in which he received bullet injuries and he was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The police probe revealed that the gang members supplied beef from Hapur to Delhi's Ghazipur market. Additional SSP Ranvijay Singh told India Today, "A few days back, we arrested a few miscreants carrying a huge quantity of beef. Upon further interrogation, the accused spilled beans and today we have arrested Shekhar, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head."
Police also seized arms and ammunition, pistols and a motorcycle from the possession of the accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused and further action would be taken, police said.
