No sign of potentially armed man in Swift Current, investigation continues, RCMP says

No sign of potentially armed man in Swift Current, investigation continues, RCMP says

CBC
Thursday, July 27, 2023 7:51 AM GMT

Efforts to find a Marystown man believed to be "armed and violent," have not been successful, the RCMP said Wednesday evening as the investigation continued.

Tony Farrell, 32, was earlier reported to be carrying weapons with the intent to use them.

At 8:45 p.m., the RCMP said via Twitter they hadn't found Farrell after a thorough search of the town. They said residents could resume normal activities but should expect a heavy police presence amid the ongoing investigation.

Police first responded to the Shoal Cove Heights area of Swift Current after alerting the public around 3:30 p.m., asking residents to remain in their homes with windows and doors locked.

The town's main road was barricaded as part of the police response, according to the RCMP, but later reopened.

Police ask anyone who sees Farrell or has information on his whereabouts to contact 911.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Farrell earlier this month in relation to several charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to stop for police, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and breaching probation.
