After police denied permission to the BJP to hold a rally in Uluberia to counter TMC's Martyr's Day, the party has moved the Calcutta High Court.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has approached the Calcutta High Court after police refused the party to hold a rally in Uluberia. Gearing up to counter Trinamool Congress (TMC)’s July 21 Martyr’s Day rally, the BJP has decided to hold a political programme ‘Uluberia Cholo’ (March to Uluberia) to condemn the alleged attacks on its party offices in the violence last month that broke out in Howrah.
Sources inside the Bengal BJP told India Today TV that police 'denied permission for the march that they have planned to organise on July 21. The Leader of the Opposition Suvendhu Adhikari on Friday moved the Calcutta HC challenging the direction and now the court will take up the matter for hearing on Tuesday.
This year, the ruling party TMC will be holding the Martyrs’ Day rally in Kolkata after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The party is leaving no stones unturned to make it the biggest rally so far. Party leaders across the state have been asked to gear up for the grand success of the programme. The BJP has taken an unprecedented decision to take out a march to Uluberia on the same day.
