India Today
After 90 students of IIT Roorkee were reported Covid-positive a few days ago and five hostels were shut down, there has been no new Covid-19 cases this week.
A total of 90 students and staff from IIT Roorkee had tested Covid-positive within the last few days, IIT Roorkee media cell in-charge Sonika Srivastava informed on Thursday. Following this, IIT Roorkee was termed as a Covid-19 hotspot and the Haridwar District Health Department went on to seal five hostels -- Coral, Kasturba, Sarojini, Govind Bhawan, and Vigyan Kunj. These were declared as containment zones. However, now, the numbers are slowly trickling down. “The institute has about three thousand students, of which around 1,200 students live in these five hostels. At present, all students are being treated in hostels,” Sonika Srivastava has said on Thursday. She had also informed that students who were planning to come to IIT Roorkee had been stopped and students already on the campus had been advised to take Covid-19 precautions.More Related News
