There is no proposal before the Karnataka Government to increase the price of milk, Co-operation Minister S.T. Somashekhar has said. Co-operative milk unions in districts are free to take a call on increasing procurement prices based on their profits and the government will not interfere in the decision taken by the unions, he added.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Mr. Somashekar, who is the Minister in-charge of Mysuru district, categorically said that the government is not in favour of hiking the price of milk.
He also clarified that there won’t be early Assembly elections in Karnataka, as is being speculated.
Regarding preparations for Yoga Day, the Minister said Mysuru MP Pratap Simha has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in International Day of Yoga in Mysuru, which is a yoga hub, in June this year.
“The people of Mysuru and yoga enthusiasts will be overjoyed if the Prime Minister comes to Mysuru for International Day of Yoga. On behalf of the people of Mysuru, we will ensure a grand welcome to Mr. Modi on the big day,” he said.
