Tangedco engineers to alert top officials if there is power outage for more than two hours
The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has asked officials of the operation and maintenance (O&M) to avoid taking up any type of maintenance power shutdown in various parts of the city till May 10.
Strict instructions have been given to officials maintenance work should not be carried out until May 10, excepting emergency rectification work, or urgent shutdowns have to be carried out that too not as part of maintenance shutdown, said a senior official.
Also the Superintendent Engineers throughout the State have been given guidelines to alert the senior management of any outage lasting for more than two hours. The directive comes in the wake of Vellore distribution circle scheduling power shutdown despite instructions prohibiting any type of maintenance shutdown till the Assembly session is on.
Since the start of the Assembly session on April 6, the monthly shutdown, which would be used for taking up maintenance work in various parts of the city, has been discontinued and taking into consideration the power demand reaching nearly 17,200 mega watt (MW) daily since the start of this month, an official said.
The Tangedco senior officials have been informed to be available in the office on all days without fail for providing information sought at short notice and postpone even official tours.
