No, FBI is not probing bitcoin scam in India: CBI rubbishes Congress claim
India Today
The CBI denied the claims made by Congress leaders that the FBI is investigating the bitcoin scam in India.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, is not conducting any probes in India, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement, categorically denying the Congress’ claims. On Friday, a Congress MLA from Karnataka alleged that the US’ FBI is investigating a “billion dollar Bitcoin scam” in India.
“This is to inform you that the FBI has not sent any team to India to conduct a probe in the matter nor has any request been made by the FBI to CBI for conducting investigation in this (Bitcoin) case in India. Accordingly, the question of any permission for the probe by competent authority in India does not arise,” the CBI said in a statement.
Priyank Kharge, the Congress MLA from Karnataka’s Chittapur, in a tweet on April 8 wrote, “I believe the FBI is in Delhi to investigate the billion dollar bitcoin ccam. Like I said before, if the state investigates the matter diligently, a lot of BJP’s skeletons will tumble out.”

Within minutes of his tweet, Congress’ General Secretary Randeep Surjewala took to social media, targeting Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over the alleged FBI probe.
