NHRC notice to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi police over self-immolation of rape victim

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday issued notices to Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police commissioner over self-immolation of a victim of alleged sexual assault outside the Supreme Court premises.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday issued notices to Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police commissioner after a victim of alleged sexual assault died. She set herself on fire near the Supreme Court premises in New Delhi on August 16. Before ending her life, the woman alleged that the Uttar Pradesh police did not act on her complaint of sexual assault. The woman narrated her allegations in a Facebook live where she was accompanied by man.
