NFL Preview 2021: League kicks off second season during pandemic

The NFL will kick off its 102nd season Thursday, and despite fascinating headlines around stars like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, the league will be playing under the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic, and amidst growing public concern about the Delta variant.
"Our challenge is right now -- we are in a major surge," said NFL Chief Medical Officer Allen Sills during a recent media call. "It is no secret. ... what the impact of the Delta variant is having." It's the league's second season during the pandemic, but this time around, it looks different. For one, there've been preseason games, with fans in attendance cheering on the latest iteration of their squad.Senate Democrats grilled Robert F. A Nigerian man has been extradited to the US to face charges in the “sextortion” of a South Carolina teen who died by suicide in 2022. Prosecutors allege the scammer posed as a young woman, persuaded 17-year-old Gavin Guffey to send him nude photos and then threatened to publicize them if Guffey didn’t send money.
