Neymar has begun the ongoing Ligue 1 season on a high, scoring 8 goals in 7 league games. He scored and made an assist in PSG's 2-1 win over Juventus in their Champions League opener.
Paris Saint Germain coach Christophe Galtier shed light on how Neymar's work ethic has changed after the last season, saying that the Brazil star was underperforming. Galtier said Neymar has become one of the most productive player for the Paris giants, offensively as well as defensively.
Neymar was not able to live up to the reputation after arriving in Paris from Barcelona and was under considerable pressure. However, Neymar has begun the ongoing season well, already scoring 8 goals and set up six goals in seven Ligue 1 matches.
Neymar has been explosive at the top and has tracked back to help the defence, more often than not, playing with renewed vigiour for PSG.
Neymar's form augurs well for PSG who will travel to Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday in their Group H second match. Neymar will head into the match after having already scored a goal and provided an assist in their 2-1 win over Juventus.
"It's not just me and my staff. He had a realisation after last season, where he was underperforming," Galtier said.
"He's got very high goals. He started the season fit, very fit. We have been trying to put him in the best possible conditions. He's a creator, an artist and when he's well physically, he gives back a lot.
"He is a player who has been working a lot, as much offensively as defensively."
