New Nokia flip phone with KaiOS is coming but only to this country
India Today
Nokia is working on another flip phone and it will be a reboot of the iconic Nokia 2760. However, HMD Global may launch this phone only in one market, at least initially.
It is not just Nokia’s Android phones that are popular, the brand’s feature phones are equally fascinating and attractive to pull the crowd. And then come some rare phones, which HMD is using to trigger the nostalgia in buyers because those phones were once popular. Among them are flip phones, which Nokia used to sell in the noughties, and now HMD is occasionally bringing them back to life. A new Nokia flip phone has been spotted and it may just be the thing of nostalgia you need next.
HMD Global is working on the reboot of the Nokia 2760, several documents have revealed. The new model N139DL has cropped up on the Bluetooth SIG certificate website (via The Mobile Hunt), and that is good enough proof that the phone, called the Nokia 2760 Flip, is coming soon. But before you get excited about the launch, let me tell you that the Nokia 2760 Flip will come to the US markets first. The phone was spotted on the support page of TracFone Wireless and Net10 Wireless, which are two American telecom companies.
There is no word on whether or not HMD will launch this feature phone to other markets, so no point waiting for it, right?
A few past reports have revealed the key specifications of the Nokia 2760 Flip. The feature phone may come with a non-touchscreen display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels. It may have a 1450mAh battery inside, 4GB of internal storage, and support for a microSD card of up to 32GB. That should be spacious enough to store music and photos. The phone will come with 4G support through a single SIM card in the US, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options. The phone will also bear a 5-megapixel camera on the back. The Nokia 2760 Flip may weigh around 136 grams and have a thinness of 19mm.
The interesting change, however, will be the software on the Nokia 2760 Flip. Reports have suggested that KaiOS may power the upcoming feature phone. It may be a newer version of KaiOS, if not KaiOS 3.0, which is the latest version of the feature phone software. This software will allow the Nokia 2760 Flip to be able to support WhatsApp, Google, YouTube, Facebook, and other apps with limited functionality. KaiOS is funded by Google, so support for Google apps is not going to go away anytime soon.
