
New Mumbai Police chief Vivek Phansalkar urges people to address cops as ‘aamchi Mumbai Police’

Vivek Phansalkar, who recently took over as the Mumbai Commissioner of Police, has a plan of action ready for one of the biggest cities of the country. Read on to find out more.
Vivek Phansalkar, who recently took over as the Mumbai Commissioner of Police, has urged people to address cops as aamchi Mumbai Police (our Mumbai Police).
Phansalkar, who aims to encourage police personnel to work closely with communities and hold outreach programmes, said, “Just as people call the city, aamchi Mumbai, people will soon call the cops, aamchi Mumbai Police.”
"Our senior officials and constables will reach out to people so that people can share their problems easily,” said Phansalkar.

Speaking to India Today/Aaj Tak on issues related to law and order, terrorism, and communities, the top cop said, “Mumbai is a big city and its security is our responsibility. The population is huge, so there are various issues, especially lack of space. We will keep trying to solve the issues with whatever we can."
Talking about terrorist attacks in the past and present threats, Phansalkar said "Mumbai has been a target of terrorism in the past. Now, we have a force created by the Maharashtra government to tackle terrorism and there’s an ATS to tackle cases related to terrorism.”
