A new optional paper on counter-terrorism being offered at JNU has sparked controversy due to assertions in the course material on how Islamic Jihadi terrorism was the only form of religious terrorism.
Jawaharlal Nehru University i.e. JNU has an old relationship with controversies, but this time a new controversy has started regarding the structure of a new course. The course on counter-terrorism being offered to dual-degree engineering students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) states that "Jihadi terrorism" is the only form of “fundamentalist-religious terrorism”, and that they have been historically supported by countries with communist background, such as China and the Soviet Union, and that their effect is not known. It asserts that due to this, many radical Islamic countries have also been influenced. A meeting of the university’s Academic Council on August 17 cleared the new optional course, titled ‘Counter Terrorism, Asymmetric Conflicts and Strategies for Cooperation among Major Powers’.More Related News
