An imam was shot and is in critical condition after he was struck at a mosque in Newark on Wednesday morning at around 6:15 a.m. Fox News Digal has learned.
The victim, the imam of Masjid Muhammed, was transported to University Hospital and is in critical condition at the time of this report. Michael Dorgan is a writer for Fox News Digital and Fox Business.

RLS Media, citing local sources, reported that the imam was preparing to engage in the Fajr prayer, the first of the five daily prayers in Islam, when the attack occurred.
