Ahead of the official launch, several details about the iPhone 14 series have leaked online. The latest leak reveals details related to the display.
The iPhone 14 series is expected to go official later this year. As per reports, the next-generation iPhones will launch sometime around the month of September. Ahead of the official launch, several details about the iPhone 14 series have leaked online. The latest leak reveals details related to the display.
According to a new market research report from Omdia, Apple will continue to partner with three display suppliers for the displays of the upcoming iPhone models. These companies include LG, Samsung, and BOE. The report also states that the iPhone 14 lineup will come with two variants of OLED displays across four variants, including the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The same report also details the display sizes and specifications for the upcoming iPhone models.
The report suggests that the upcoming iPhone series will bring four new variants, including a standard model, a Plus variant, a Pro model, and a Pro Plus (with Plus it means Max). This year, there will not be a mini model. Instead, the Cupertino-based tech giant will unveil the iPhone 14 Max. As per reports, the mini model has impacted the sales of the iPhone SE series and hence the decision to discontinue it and bring the Max.
The four upcoming iPhone models are said to be split into LTPS OLED and LTPO OLED displays. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max are said to use an LTPS OLED display measuring 6.1-inch and 6.9-inch, respectively. Both these models are said to use the new OLED displays and offer a higher refresh rate. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, are said to use an LTPO OLED display instead. The variable refresh rate (VRR) feature will also be limited to the Pro models. In addition, Apple is also likely to bring an always-on display to the Pro models.
Past reports suggest that the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will feature a usual wide-notched display, while the Pro models will go for a pill-shaped notch. To recall, Apple introduced a wide notch with the iPhone X and, since then, all iPhones have included the same design. With the iPhone 14 Pro models, the company reportedly plans to change the design and offer a bigger screen size. In renders, the pill-shaped design looks good, but we will need to wait for the iPhone 14 to launch to see if it looks equally good in reality.
