Never thought of joining BJP, says Congress leader Sachin Pilot
India Today
Whenever a leader leaves the Congress, especially of my generation, I am forced to answer the question even though it is they who leave the party, says Pilot.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot played down the speculation that he was sulking in the Congress after his chief ministerial claim was denied in Rajasthan. He denied that there were talks about him joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) when he had led a group of MLAs in 2020 protesting against Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Pilot said whenever a young leader left the Congress, he was asked a question about him leaving the party and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking at Panchayat Aaj Tak Punjab on Tuesday, Sachin Pilot said, “I have answered this question about a hundred times. Whenever a leader leaves the Congress, especially of my generation, I am forced to answer the question even though it is they who leave the party.”

“I am asked why they are leaving the party. It is for them to explain why they are leaving the party, what their compulsions were, and what was in their minds when they left the party.”
“There are always personal relationships when one works with somebody for 10-15 years. But if they decide to leave the party, it is their personal decision. What would they do or not is their call.”
Pilot is said to be demanding a change of guard in Rajasthan for the past two years. In 2020, he had headed to Delhi with a group of about 25 MLAs. It was speculated that he was in touch with some BJP leaders including Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat.
