Kerala BJP chief K Surendran is facing nepotism charges. It has been alleged that his son, KS Harikrishanan, was appointed as a technical officer at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology and other candidates were kept in the dark after the practical examination.
Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, K Surendran, is facing nepotism charges, in connection with the appointment of his son, KS Harikrishnan, as a technical officer at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) in Thiruvananthapuram, which is under the Union government.
RGCB had invited applications for the post of technical officer in December 2021. The post is reserved for the OBC Category and the minimum eligibility criteria was BTech with 60% marks.
A total of 48 candidates were chosen for the selection process. An objective-type examination and a written examination were conducted on April 25, 2022.
After the first two rounds, Harikrishnan and three other candidates were selected for a practical exam the next day. Nepotism charges emerged after the other shortlisted candidates came to know that Harikrishnan had been selected for the post.
The other candidates alleged they were kept in the dark by RGCB officials when they asked about details of further proceedings after the practical examination.
K Surendran responded saying his son's appointment was purely based on merit.
