Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Friday said that there is a need to revive and rebuild the party on the inside and at the same time, we need to appeal to the voters on the outside.
Ahead of the party presidential election, Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor on Friday said that there is a need to revive and rebuild the party on the inside and at the same time, we need to appeal to the voters on the outside.
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Tharoor said, "We need to break free, we need to appeal to a larger constituency and the same time, we need to stop good people from leaving the party."
On being asked why he wanted to contest for the party chief's post, he said, "I really believe that Congress is needed by the country and business as usual is not going to take us anywhere."
During the interview, he said that he comes without the baggage of having any vested interest in the way in which the party runs. He added that part of his message is to change the way the party runs and decentralise authority.
