Former CPI(M) leader criticizes NDA alliance rule in Andhra Pradesh for corruption, nepotism, and neglect of development in the state.
Former MP and senior CPI(M) leader P. Madhu termed the NDA alliance rule in the State which is going to complete a year soon, as “disastrous”.
Addressing the media, along with party leaders Kandharapu Murali and Vandavasi Nagaraju here on Thursday, he alleged that the incumbent government was marked by rampant corruption, nepotism and indifference to the plight of the poor. The voters of Andhra Pradesh gave their overwhelming verdict in favour of the NDA alliance with a lot of hope, but the rulers are applying different yardsticks for their own people and for others,” he said.
The pre-election promises are nowhere to be found after the government came to power and their apparently seems to be no thought process going on to implement them, he added. The corruption alleged in the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule in the land, sand, mines and power sectors are visible even today, irrespective of the regime change in the State.
Mr. Madhu also flayed the government for confining development talks to just Polavaram and Amaravati, thus completely ignoring the rest of the State, especially the backward Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions. “Not a single review meeting has been conducted so far on the rest of the State during the nearly one year rule, which shows a clear bias,” he opined.
Terming the power sector as a “tragedy”, he said the entire sector had gone into the pockets of private corporate entities, which continued to call the shots in spite of the regime change.
