National Capital Region (NCR) schools have adopted several measures to tackle the summer heat on their campuses.
Schools in the National Capital Region(NCR) have adopted several steps like revising school timings, restricting outdoor activities, stocking ORS and glucose sachets, and constantly motivating children to stay hydrated to tackle the heatwave conditions across the state. A scorching heatwave has pushed temperatures soaring throughout broad swaths of India, with Delhi reaching 46 degrees Celsius. With a monthly average maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, the national capital had its second warmest April in 72 years.
A fresh spell of a heatwave is likely to start across northwest India from May 7 and over central India from May 8, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier this week.
Shri Ram Wonder Years School Head Shubhi Soni told the News Agency PTI that all outdoor activities have been restricted considering the rising temperatures.
The principal further remarked, "School timings will also be revised as per the prevailing conditions and dispersal in the afternoon peak hours will be avoided to prevent heat strokes and energy drainage among students.”
Speaking about further preparations, Shubhi Soni said, "We also have an emergency kit for use, which comprises ORS, glucose, and oral electrolyte to be given to children if they need it.”
“The school staff is keeping a thorough check on children and constantly motivating them to drink water to manage the heatwave,” the principal added.
On similar lines, MRG School, Rohini Principal Anshu Mital said that they too have decreased outdoor activities extensively to protect students from heat.
