NCPCR writes to Secretaries of School Education Department of all states and UT's to conduct safety audits

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sent orders to schools of all states regarding the safety of school children.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has ordered the secretaries of the School Education Department of all states and UTs to conduct safety audits of all schools in their states accordingly. For this, the education department has been asked to submit its report by May 31, 2022.
ABOUT SAFETY AUDIT
The decision has been taken considering the incidents related to school children that occurred recently in different states.
As the incidents are primarily linked to the school infrastructure, such as collapsing of boundary walls and also the death of students on school transport.
NCPCR has also sent out letters to Secretaries of State Transport Department of all states and UTs and has asked them to conduct audits of school transportation including buses, vans, and mini-buses.
Letters sent after the reports of accidents and mishaps in schools post reopening of schools for physical learning have come to the forefront.
