
NCPCR pulls up Unicef India, censor board over screening same-sex relationship films to minors

The apex child rights body has sought an explanation from Unicef India and the CBFC over short films on same-sex relationships scheduled to be screened in schools in West Bengal.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sent a notice to Unicef India and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over short movies on same-sex relationships scheduled to be screened for minors in schools in West Bengal.
As per the notice marked to Unicef India representative, the NCPCR has sought information for the mandate under which the movies were chosen, the factors which were taken into consideration for screening the movies to minors and also the memorandum of understanding signed with the Ministry of Education and department of education in the state before screening the movie.
