Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke about the popularity of South films in an exclusive interaction with IndiaToday.in. The Heropanti 2 actor admitted that while he does commercial films, he doesn’t watch them.
There is a South wave that has caught up with Bollywood. Films like Pushpa: The Rise, RRR, and now KGF: Chapter 2 have done tremendous business in the Hindi speaking belt. Especially, audiences and critics can't help but notice South talent and their abilities. During an exclusive interaction with IndiaToday.in, Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared his views on the current South cinema mania.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s film, Heropanti 2, with Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria is now running in theatres. When asked about what he thinks of the recent success achieved by the South film industry with films like RRR and Pushpa: The Rise, responded, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "Frankly, I haven't seen any of the South films. But not only South, I don't watch commercial films. It's also because I am quite busy. Hence, I hardly get any time to watch films. So I can't actually comment on the success.”
Does Nawazuddin Siddiqui believe that with the kind of content coming from the South, it will take over Bollywood? He said, "See, the thing is, when something is successful, everything is about that. For example, when a film is hit then the scripts that come to you are a reflection of that film. We are so quick to get influenced that we start talking in the same language as the recent hit film. We tend to get similar scripts, dialogues and attitudes, which is very weird for me. The good part about all this is that the audiences are coming to cinema halls, and what we are offering is worth looking out for. It can be through any film, but what you’re serving makes a lot of difference and is important. Having said that, I do such films, but I don't watch these kinds of films, which surprises me too. I am yet to figure out why it is like that with me.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has Tiku Weds Sheru, Noorani Chehra and Afwaah, among other projects, in the pipeline.
