Navneet and Ravi Rana absent in court proceedings since change in Maha govt, says Mumbai police

The Mumbai police had filed a petition in court seeking to cancel the bail granted to Amravati MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana in a sedition case against them.
A Mumbai special court which deals with legal cases concerning MPs and MLAs in Maharashtra on Friday slammed Amravati MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana over their absence from court proceedings.
The Mumbai police had filed an application seeking to cancel the bail granted to the couple in a sedition case against them. The case was filed against them after they threatened to chant Hanuman Chalisa outside former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence, Matoshree. They had later called off the protest citing PM Narendra Modi’s Mumbai visit.

Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said that since the new government came in place, neither the couple nor their lawyer have been coming to court and were taking the legal process lightly.
Advocate Shabbir Shora, appearing for the couple, approached the court later and sought an extension for their appearance in the proceedings. The case has been adjourned till August 11.
Neither the couple nor their lawyer appeared before the court on the last date of hearing on July 20.
